What We Do

At Gandhi World Foundation, our mission is to foster a society grounded in Gandhian principles—truth, nonviolence, equality, and compassion. Through a wide array of impactful initiatives spanning culture, education, health, environment, youth development, and peacebuilding, we aim to create a conscious and empowered India that honors its heritage while shaping a better future.

  • Cultural Revival & Heritage: Annual “Mannum Marabum – Traditional Expo” (since 2020) celebrates native foods, crafts, and rural values via immersive model villages.
  • Nationalism & Social Mobilization: “COME BACK BUILD INDIA” rallies (2015) inspired NRI professionals—engineers, doctors, and scientists—to return and serve the nation.
  • Health & Wellness: Events like “Chennai Walkathan” and “Nadai Noikku Thadai” promote walking as a preventive health measure, drawing thousands annually.
  • Gandhian Education: “Maanavarkalukkaga Mahatma”, a comic biography in Tamil and English, introduces children to Gandhi’s life in an engaging way.
  • Environmental Awareness: Tree planting drives and awareness campaigns held on Global Warming Day and World Environment Day to promote ecological responsibility.
  • Social Empowerment: Free computer training centers and educational material distributions support underprivileged students in preparing for competitive exams.
  • Disaster Relief: During the 2015 Chennai and Cuddalore floods, the Foundation provided essential supplies and school kits to affected families and children.
  • Peace Advocacy: Annual “Peace Competitions” promote global harmony through student contests, art, and writing events across schools and colleges.
  • Media for Social Change: The “WE CHANGE” initiative produces and screens short films highlighting social issues in villages—with expansion plans to schools and public platforms.
  • Living Gandhian Values: “Ungal Peyar Gandhiya?” honors individuals named Gandhi who actively embody his principles and values.
  • Democracy & Voter Awareness: Voter education campaigns, signature drives, and anti-corruption rallies promote clean and ethical elections.
  • Youth & Sports Development: Sports training centers, beginning with a cricket academy inaugurated by cricketer Mr. Balaji, nurture young athletic talent.
  • Record-Breaking Events: In 2013, a rally featuring 1,027 children dressed as Gandhi earned international recognition and multiple world records.
  • International Engagement: The International Yoga Festival 2024 (June 16) features expert-led sessions, yoga competitions, and record-setting events promoting holistic wellness.
  • Women Empowerment: The MAA Awards celebrate extraordinary women making impactful contributions in leadership, social change, and service.
  • Commemorative Marches: The “New Dandi March” is held annually to honor Gandhi’s Salt March, with district-wide rallies rekindling the spirit of peaceful protest.
